Eligibility

Full-time associate become eligible for benefits immediately on the first day of employment. See Part-Time Benefits for part-time associates.

Note: You are not covered until you enroll, and you have 31 days to do so. If you do not enroll within 31 days, coverage is not available until the next Open Enrollment period.

You may enroll the following eligible dependents in most benefits:

Medical, Dental, and Vision

  • Your spouse*, unless he or she is eligible for comprehensive group coverage through their own employer (for medical only)
  • Your domestic partner and his or her dependent children
  • Children** up to age 26
  • Disabled children** age 26 or older who depend on you for primary financial support and who have been continuously disabled by a physical or mental condition that began before age 26. You may be required to submit medical proof of disability for the dependent child before coverage under this provision is effective and at reasonable intervals as requested by the plan’s administrator.

*A spouse is defined as an individual to whom you are legally married.

**Children are defined as natural children, legally adopted children, stepchildren, children placed with you for foster care or adoption, children for whom you are the court-appointed legal guardian and children for whom health coverage is required through a Qualified Medical Child Support Order or other court administrative order.

Dependent Life and Supplemental Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance

  • Your children through age 18
  • Your children over age 18 but under age 25, if enrolled as a full-time student and if your children depend on you for financial support and live with you in a parent-child relationship.

How to Enroll

Enrolling in your benefits is easy – and getting assistance is a snap, too. Be sure to enroll online within 31 days of your date of hire!

ONLINE
  • Log in to Workday and open your Inbox.
  • Click the Inbox Worklet to Enroll in or Change benefits.
  • Complete steps one through seven. Submit your elections.
  • Review and print the confirmation page. Keep a copy for your records.

Qualifying Life Event

As a new hire, you may elect coverage within 31 days of your date of hire. You may not change or cancel your benefit elections during 2020 unless you experience a qualifying life event. Otherwise, your next opportunity to change your benefits will be the 2019 Open Enrollment period.

Qualifying life events include but are not limited to:

  • Marriage
  • Divorce or legal separation
  • Birth or adoption of an eligible child
  • Death of your spouse or covered child
  • Loss or addition of other group coverage
  • Change in your spouse’s work status (part-time to full-time or vice versa; taking or returning from an unpaid leave of absence)
  • Change in your work status that affects your benefits
  • Change in residence that affects your eligibility for coverage
  • You or your covered dependent becomes eligible for Medicare
What to do if you experience a life event

If you need to make benefit changes as a result of a life event, visit Workday. Changes must be made within 31 days of the life event.

Keep in mind

When changing your benefits due to a life event, the changes you make must be consistent with that event. For example, you cannot drop medical coverage because you had a child, but you are able to add your new child to your coverage.
