Putting Your Well-Being First

We care about our associates. Your health and well-being is our priority as we face this unprecedented public health crisis together. We continue to closely monitor and respond to the rapidly changing coronavirus situation. To help you and your family get the care and support you need during these challenging times, we have created this resource page. For specific benefit, pay, or employment questions, please contact our HR Shared Services team at 1-800-588-3700 or hrsharedservices@belk.com.

We have made telehealth visits through MDLive free and will continue to pay 100% of the cost of COVID-19 testing including the appointment charge. Additionally, all associates have access to free virtual or telephone counseling through our EAP (1-877-771-7708). Plus, MetLife is offering legal advice through their Disaster Relief Plan for all associates, even those not enrolled in the Legal Plan (1-800-821-6400).

Belk also has created resources specifically for our associates currently on furlough, such as the One Belk Relief Fund, which provides a grant of $250 to eligible associates. The fund is limited and will be dispersed as applications are approved. Eligible associates who need support are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. More information is available here. Additional information on unemployment and support resources can also be found here.

Health Benefits

Telemedicine

With social distancing such an important strategy for stopping the spread of the coronavirus, now is the time to take advantage of your medical plan’s telemedicine service. Avoid going into a doctor’s office, urgent care center, or hospital — receive care right from your home instead. With telemedicine, you have access to board-certified physicians 24/7, 365 days a year. Get fast, convenient diagnosis and treatment for many common medical conditions through video consult on your smartphone or computer.

You also have access to virtual visits with behavioral health specialists who can help you through feelings of anxiety, stress, or depression. In addition, you have access to dermatology specialists who can advise you on dermatology issues and recommend next steps.

General medical MDLive virtual visits cost $50 or less. If your visit is COVID-19 related, you’ll be reimbursed in full for this amount—making the visit no cost to you. Note that behavioral health and dermatology visits may cost more.

Telemedicine is provided through MDLive if you’re enrolled in a BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina medical plan. Visit the MDLive website to get started or learn more.

If you are not covered under the Belk medical plan and therefore are not eligible for MDLive benefits, check with your state’s Department of Health or your primary care physician for a telemedicine screening tool.

HealthLine Blue

Your BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina medical plan offers phone access to nurses who can answer questions about your health and your medical coverage — confidentially and at no cost to you. Your nurse can help you determine what to do if you have concerns related to coronavirus symptoms or any other health issues.

Call 1-877-477-2424 to reach a nurse.

Medical Coverage

Your medical plan is always available to support you and your covered family members with comprehensive coverage. If you need COVID-19 testing, that expense will be fully covered at no cost to you. In addition, all of our medical plans include an out-of-pocket maximum to protect you from extensive costs if you need lengthy medical care.

View a summary of your medical plan details or log in to the BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina website for more information about your coverage and plan resources.

Health Savings Account (HSA)

Health Savings Accounts are available to those who enroll in a Belk medical plan.

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, Belk will not make Company contributions to associates’ Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) for the second quarter of 2020. Belk will revisit this temporary suspension of company HSA contributions for future quarters.

In the meantime, you can continue to contribute to your HSA tax-free and use the funds to help pay your out-of-pocket health care costs.

Supplemental Medical Coverage

If you are enrolled in a Hospital Indemnity plan and need to be hospitalized, benefits are payable for your stay. If you are enrolled in a Critical Illness plan, COVID-19 is a qualified condition. Hospital Indemnity and Critical Illness benefits are paid directly to you in cash, regardless of how much of your costs your medical plan has covered.

Learn more about the Hospital Indemnity plan and Critical Illness plan. You can also visit the Unum website or call 1-800-635-5597.

Prescription Drug Coverage

Take advantage of your Express Scripts home delivery program through the Express Scripts Pharmacy to receive up to a three-month supply of your maintenance medication without needing to leave your home.

Visit the Express Scripts website or call Express Scripts at to learn more or get started.

Signature Service

As part of BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina’s services, you’ll have access to the Signature Service concierge. This special service includes registered nurses, health coaches, social workers, pharmacists and customer service representatives. Call the BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina concierge at 1-800-422-2717 for personalized one-on-one support.

Wellness and Life Assistance

Blue Cross NC HealthyOutcomes Program

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, Company-paid incentives in the HealthyOutcomes program will not be offered for the remainder of 2020.

Although incentives will not be paid, the wellness activities are still available to you at no cost. We encourage you to continue to take care of yourself by participating in such programs as Lifestyle Coaching, QuitlineNC Tobacco Cessation, and more.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Your emotional well-being is just as important as your physical health. Pay attention to your stress and anxiety level as you navigate your way through the current pandemic — and don’t hesitate to reach out for help!

The Belk Employee Assistance Program (EAP), provided by American Behavioral, is a free, confidential benefit to help you and your family members through times of stress, like the situation we are all in right now. You and your whole family have access to support for a wide range of mental health, emotional, financial, legal, or relationship issues. In addition to phone counseling, the EAP can also provide referrals to local professionals and services to meet your needs.

Call (1-877-771-7708) any time of day or night or visit the American Behavioral website.
